When God Was Big

20 July 2009 2 Comments

When we signed the Declaration of Independence, We were still a nation dependent on God’s providence. As we have advanced through history, we have learned to control nature and use it to our advantage. God has continued to bless us even up until present times. We, however have turned away from Him and have come to the point in our history where many are wanting to yank him out of every aspect of their lives. Atheists are working hard to make America forget there even is a God!

After 9/11 the churches were filled to overflowing and God was suddenly important again as people wrestled with life and mortality. Within a month, those places of worship were once again back to business as usual. What happened? I believe that suddenly our shell of self reliance, a very thin shell, was broken and we discovered that all of the technology and wealth in the world was unable to prevent the attack. Suddenly we felt vulnerable and uneasy about our so called self reliance. Many people believed in God, but it took an event like 9/11 to remind them of their dependence on Him. Whether we believe in Him or not, He ultimately rules. Don’t be one of those who built his house on the sand and not the rock. Jesus is the rock. He is God’s son. He will reveal Himself in the last days to judge the Earth. Find the peace that only comes in knowing Him as your Savior.

This song strikes at the heart of secular America– at those who feel their technology rivals God. How we all need to repent, and remember that we are small and God is BIG! Bravo Rod, for giving us another profound and inspiring song!

Mr. Stone….I’m speechless and welling. Your passion runs deep through every chord and lyric. Don’t ever give up the fight to reclaim this land for The Lord of all creation. You have a gift for reaching into the hearts of humanity and finding and reminding them of the tender spot that lays dorment deep within. You are rebuiliding the ancient ruins with a trowel in one hand a sword in the other (okay so with a pen and a guitar…same diff!!)
