Anyone Would’ve Wanted To

29 September 2009 8 Comments

I want to indulge myself on this blog post and share a song with you that I wrote for my beautiful wife Carrie. I haven’t listened to “Anyone Would’ve Wanted To” for a long time now and decided it might be fun to share with you on our thirteenth wedding anniversary. As I listened to the lyrics it was as if I was listening with new ears.
When I wrote and demoed this song we were investing in real estate and doing quite well. Carrie however was not doing well physically, and we didn’t yet know what was wrong. We came together with that challenge and she was diagnosed with Celiac disease. Now she is a speaker and trainer and her health is excellent even as we struggle to get her career air born.
The “doing quite well” part has turned into a total dependence on God as we struggle to hear his leading through our difficult economic times. He has promised he would never leave or forsake us, just as we promised we would never leave or forsake each other. That just goes without saying. The thing I wasn’t expecting in all of this is how my love for her has deepend through it all! The lyrics in this song set in motion a mindset that has become as natural as breathing in our home, but when I listened again this morning I was overcome by my emotions. We are together forever. I don’t know exactly what it will be like in Heaven but I do know I have tasted Heaven right here on Earth.
I love you Carrie!

    Dear Rod and Carrie,

How absolutely “SPECIAL” you two are!! Now you even have doubled your specialness with Newell and Olivia.

Rod, if you sung all the parts on that song…I’m sorry you need to be heard on any and every country-gospel station in America.

“Now, that is my story and I’m sticking with it!”

Rod, keep sharing your music and your life story it is a beautiful thing.

    All Our Best!

    Dave & Monika Yancey

PS: We have embraced thirty-seven years of friendship/love and adventure together.

Wow! (Seems I always start my comments on your work with that word.) I am blessed by the words of this song as it describes the sentiments I have for Sharon as we approach our 27th in just a couple of weeks. BTW, happy 13th to the two of you.

I am also struck by some of the parallels that we as couples have experienced…your’s with Celiac and ours with EI. God is so faithful and awesome. I’m sure you have seen 20th century diseases like those rip marriages apart, but we have both witnessed first hand how God can also use them to draw couples closer (Rom. 8:28).

Sharon and I love your music genre and are so delighted that you have chosen blogging as a way to share your incredible gift with the world. Thank you for sharing your heart with us.
    God bless,
    Jerry

Well, my brother, what a joy to share in the intimate moments with you and Carrie. I’ve listened to your words and song for two days now and am so drawn to the loveliness and your hearts. Yesterday I was on several hours of calls with Renato Amato in Italy, “Healing Broken Hearts” and was continually reminded of your love for and with Carrie. Your love so foundational along with Christ as your ultimate love and foundation. It is this love that Heals Broken Hearts and sustains us through good and difficult times. Individually and collectively with Christ, you are love. It is in Christ that I write. You remain in my thoughts and prayers daily.
    Brother Ben

PS Thank you for revealing within me my deep love for my wife Kay.

Congrats Rod for once again sharing a song that tugs my heartstrings. Your incredible gift for touching our inner beings, our hearts and souls, has blessed me again. God created you and Carrie for each other. Your love will never die. Sounds like another song I’ve heard somewhere!

Rod, Thank you for renewing my hope, vision and courage to continue the fight today. As I listened to both USA Today and The Prayer, the focus became very clear. These songs/videos will do the same for many Americans who are hungry for encouragement. Winston Churchill once gave a speech to graduating college students. The entire speech: “Never, never, never give up!”May you never give up in the musical calling God has given you, and may American christians never give up on the mandate we have to win this generation. Love, your very proud sister, Jennifer
