Rickey Lee Watson “What I Love About America”
I was excited the day I learned that Rickey Lee Watson had recorded “What I Love About America”. He is a strong force in the Country Music community and relies solidly on his Christian faith. He is an inspiration where ever he goes, and is giving Americans hope for a stronger nation through the message of this song and his personal commitment to our military!
We do come from all different backgrounds and cultures but we have one thing in common….. Freedom! We are a melting pot, that is true, and we all have the opportunity to persuade others (peacefully) to our point of view. I love that aspect of our culture. What I don’t love is the political correctness that has invaded every institution of our great land. We are becoming our own worst enemy by clamping down on freedom of speech just because one group or another might be offended. We have tied honest open dialog into knots because we are afraid to speak our minds.
What do you get when everyone speaks so as not to offend anyone else? You get a bunch of people saying what they think other people want to hear ! You get a woman being fired from her public school teaching job because she wore a cross necklace prominently in the classroom. You don’t get true dialog. Is that really good for our country? I have been criticized for my opinions when it comes to politics and morality and of course my deeply held Christian beliefs, but that’s what this country was founded on; good, honest debate. This song was written to remind us all that our greatest national treasure is our people. Our U.S. Constitution gives us the right to speak our minds, even when some might disagree with us and that is the beauty of a free society. Don’t relinquish that right, and don’t forget are soldiers who put their lives on the line every day to preserve it!
We have been moving diligently on a journey that has been growing out of the heart of America, with God’s inspiration as the seed. The people that have been behind this campaign have been loyal, professional, and giving.
The ones that seem to not grasp the REALNESS in this movement, will very soon wish they had jumped on our mission when they could have from the beginning. Time disappears real fast when you get in contention, but we have the faith with our creator, that millions of people will soon join our creative concept.

Over the years I have had a lot of blessings for a man who’s faced the some of the toughest challenges! Through it all, God still has given me the strength and health to continue my mission in life ,the chance every man or woman has to find his or her mountain of greatness and follow a dream, making a difference in the world we live, touching one heart at a time.
I am known as The Man Behind The Shades because of n injury losing 65% of my vision as a young man growing up. This to me is a gift not an adversity or misfortune but another blessing strengthening my ability to see through the windows to the world more clearly using my heart and mind, and not prejudging by sight.
Rod has allowed me to see through the gift God has given him in his songwriting as his heart reveals the reality of life through the Golden pen that I believe, is moved by the hand of God. I, as the artist, will paint the picture delivering the message as the brush strokes the paper, in hopes of adding color to the black and white world many live in.
Rod and his family’s Christian spirit has been a true blessing for me and my family, and many friends and fans can now enjoy his work through the international language of music.
