The Prayer

25 August 2009 28 Comments

I have been amazed at how quickly our once Christian nation has descended into moral relativism and Secular Humanism. God’s once tangible covering of protection and prosperity is slowly being taken away and what is left is fear and despair along with the uneasy feeling that we will soon go the way of Rome. We are seeing the rapid dismantling of our free enterprise system into centralized government control. Sound familiar? Just look at Europe. What is worse, is the moral and spiritual poverty that now besets us in this once great land. Can anything be done?

When Jesus is taken out of everything, there is nothing to do but spiral into the morass of darkness that comes when you put man above God. We need to stand as Christians and fight for truth, not from a place of hatred but from a place of conviction and love. This has always been a part of the Christian experience and I pray this song will be a reminder that we are to love and even pray for those who persecute us. Sounds kind of hard doesn’t it? But with out those prayers people will never find the freedom that comes through Christ, and this once great nation will continue to fall into decline.

    I LOVE THIS SONG….simply gorgeous!
    Wonderfully done.
Love this part–both melodic & content:
“As I sent up my inquiry, sadly he said to me:
    “There wasn’t a thing I could do
    I wept outside the gate
’cause I’m not allowed in your schools”

Rod: The words of the song are true in all aspects. Mary will be teaching Isaiah this fall. The song and the Book of Isaiah, strongly show the aspects of what happens to a country when God Is forced out. But the Lord told Isaiah, that if the people repented he would restore their land. God Bless, you my Brother Rod in Christ Jesus., Jim Sutton

Thank you so much for your message of hope, and the honesty it relays.
The fact is we live under the umbrella of God’s grace as the song so apptly depicted. When this nation collectively turns it back on God, we all suffer. The efforts of people like yourself, are the beacons in the darkness. We must stedfastly send ot these messages of hope, and pray God will forgive this wayward nation that is America.
    In Him,
    Sandra

God bless you Rod! Thank you for that beautiful song! Although I’m not a US citizen, I can certainly feel the Lord’s heart crying for your nation, and I will join in your prayer! What once stood for a country of freedom under God, unfortunately is not perceived so by the rest of the world anymore, so it’s important that Christians like you lift up their voices as the prophets of old and warn the people of the sad destiny that awaits all nations that forget God! But it’s not too late for America! Remember Jonah and Niniveh! I believe there are enough Christians over there that could help you turn the tide the other way! Keep singing, I’m one of your fans!

Rod, you have captured the soul of the moral crossroads America is facing. Your song is haunting, but the slides tell the true story. Bless you, dear brother in Christ, for sounding the clarion call to Americans to return to the grace and shield of the God of our Founding Fathers.

  • Sharon said:

Rod, I value you as a person and a songwriter, and I can honestly say I love you as a friend and know you to be a wonderfully principled and highly moral person.

Stuff I believe in is stuff that everyone in this country has a right to, not just people who share one’s own point of view. Like religious freedom, the right to make a difficult choice involving their own bodies and children, and even the right to be different and love who you do. Freedom.

I don’t need to see Christian, Jewish, Muslim or Buddhist principles bannered in my school- heck, I don’t even believe Jesus was out to start his own religion! And if the 10 Commandments would really ward off evil, simply by having them on display, then self-righteous phony senators wouldn’t go jetting across the continent to their lovers when they’re committing adultery.

What would Jesus ACTUALLY do? Preach tolerance. And love God. And since God made us all different, I think we should celebrate our differences, and love one another in spite of them. Does God make mistakes? Does God only want Christianity to be the world’s one religion? Do you think Hitler was right when he declared his edicts on what was worthy and what was not? Of course not-

It is food for thought. Your song was lovely, the video was horrid.

    Well, you asked……..

I was thrilled to hear Lee sing your song! There is GOOD NEWS in the USA today! What a way to start the day with that inspiration. Your song will be heard “round the world”.

When my son came home from Iraq some of us sang “God bless the USA”. Now when he comes home in 2010 AGAIN from Iraq(leaves again in Dec)
maybe we will sing this to him !

Thanks for putting your talents out there in song.

I just listened to your song again and could not resist dropping you a note of appreciation.

Rod, the song has a powerful and important question and it bears echoing across our fruited plain that “Jesus is the Answer” to these serious questions.
