New “USA Today” Video

9 September 2009 12 Comments

On the Anniversary of 9-11 I decided to create this video of USA Today as recorded with the vocal help of Ron Hemby in Nashville. I felt it was important to share the original song with you because I feel these lyrics are more timeless than the changes I made in the first verse for Lee Greenwood’s recording of this song. So in the spirit of timelessness, my prayer is that the message in this song will forever resonate with every patriotic American who hears it and that you will be encouraged to continue to fight the good fight, whether it be in the armed forces preserving our freedom and the freedom of the nations you liberate, or in civilian life. Wherever you are and how ever you serve, just know there are a lot of Americans behind you! May God bless you all for your service to our Country, and may God still continue to be with us through these troubled times. You can read  my wife Carrie’s recollection of that unforgettable day  of 9-11 when  our little 18 month old gave  a hug as indelible as the event itself at http://carriecstone.com/reflections-of-911/

    Dear Rod,

What a wonderful way to begin, live and complete a day with my fellow American Rod Stone. You lift all of our spirits and have such an incredible way of penetrating our hearts at levels we are not and were not aware of and its (our hearts) need for cleansing. How you do this is well beyond us. What I do have a sense of is this; you are inspired through your gifting by our heavenly Father, Carrie, your family and spirits before you. You dwell right in the heart of God. Thank you for taking us there with you time and time again.

It is in Christ’s love that I write.

    Your brother Ben

    Rod,
Another awesome piece. Whether intended or not, I come away with the underlying message that we spend far too much of our time (thanks to the media’s inherent obsession on bad news) focused on what’s wrong rather than what’s right. Your lyrics help put all that back into proper perspective. Life, including life in this country, is pretty wonderful when you focus on what we have as opposed to what we don’t have. Thank you for the attitude adjustment. We tend to need a regular dose of it. What a critically needed ministry you are developing as you combine your gifts with words, music, and now video. To God be the glory!

Thank you for brightening up my day with music and for putting together such a memorable piece. As a Vietnam veteran, it is refreshing to see that others see the world the way I do, and that some are truly thankful for living in the USA. All one has to do is visit other countries–whether Europe or Asia– to realize how great those that have gone before us to gain the great freedoms we have chosen.. It has not come without the sacrifice of many..

Choose the many songs and click again…and again…

Rod- A beautiful message to our country and all those who stand up
for freedom and the values that are the foundation of the USA. We are always moved by this beautiful song. Thank you for your inspiring tribute to our boys who lay their lives on the line to protect this country and the light it shines in the darkness of ignorance, oppression, and despair in other parts of the world. USA TODAY is a powerful prayer lifting up and encouraging all who hold to these values. Thank you for that gift.
    Always Love–

Rod as a 21 year veteran and one who participated in the war on terror, I want to thank you for writing this song. While I was listening tears came to eyes as I remembered my friends and collegues. Thank you for pointing out to the American people what is good about this country, because all we are getting from most of the media today is what is wrong and bad. We Americans should be on our knees praying like little children to our most loving and gracious Heavenly Father for the gift He has given us. America! Thank you my brother and continue to write what God is putting on your heart.
